The scenery is outstanding. Parts of the film were actually filmed in Oregon. Stewart plays an outlaw trying to do good, while Arthur Kennedy (also an outlaw) goes from bad to good then bad again. Rock Hudson is totally out of place in this movie. Many good character actors that will work with Stewart again in a film that almost mimics this one in 1954's The Far Country. Same basic plot, except Stewart isn't an outlaw, but again trying to get beef and supplies to a location in Alaska but runs into trouble as in this film. I watched it for the 4th time on GRIT TV.
