It wasn't alllll bad, there were cheesy parts that I could get over easily and things that I could just... Shrug off. But I really hate these "dark and reimagined" storylines. Euphoria (whatever you think about that storyline) showed us you can use bright colors, sparkle/glitter and colors in a scene but it can still portray a dark vibe. Just because something takes a darker side of things doesn't quite mean you have to lose all the color... Literally.
Most of the cast is white. Like, where is the diversity? Why were so many characters white washed? Several of the characters colors didn't match their original winx. Like bloom is supposed to be blue not red! Speaking of, several of the actors didn't even look even remotely close to their cartoon counterparts, from eye color to hair color to just small details that would make audiences happy. ATTENTION to detail!
Terra was not a needed character. I get she is the plus size diversity but I'm SO bored of "plus sized girl hates her body!". Like we get it. Plus sized girls are ashamed. Can we do something else now?
The makeup and the styling of everything was actually atrocious. Whoever did all that needs to be fired immediately. Even if they were supposed to look like college students, they looked more like women in their 40s who are having issues keeping up with trends. All of their outfits had me screaming what is THAT. The makeup was so bad I could see the layers on their faces. Nearly cake face. Horrible!
Speaking of.... It's a little *weird* that all of the POC characters struggles were pretty much brushed over and not cared for? Meanwhile it's bloom bloom bloom. I get she's the main character but in the original winx all of the girlies had their moments and struggles that were given time.
Okay so this got long. Anyways, that's not even touching several other subjects. The lack of attention to details of what made winx club loved was clearly an issue here. Enjoy I guess.
