This wonderful film examines life, love and loss and how deeply we dive into each, taking on philosophy as old as the Gods on its stage. While it's humour is lighter than others in its stable, it is fantastically balanced by the darkness of Bale's character (a truly remarkable performance). This film uses its humour to walk us into places we too easily turn away from and then its darkness to warn us of what we ignore at our peril. I very much commend all involved.
