I haven’t read the book but found the series so profoundly moving. I do disagree with some reviews that the extermination of the Jews wasn’t documented. The world knows about the annihilation of the Jews. We know from history what they endured, not just Jews but gypsies etc. What this series/novel did was focus on one man’s endurance and the love story that enfolded. There were many reminders of the Jewish annihilation that were poignant and extremely sad. I cried my eyes out.
