I don’t think I’ve ever been this moved by a film. Rarely have I watched a documentary that has touched me on so many levels. I had always thought that Christopher Reeve was an extraordinary man. After viewing this, my admiration for him…and his family…has grown incredibly. Everyone should hope to be as inspirational and caring as Christopher Reeve.

I saw this movie when I was a kid. Until then, I wasn’t really afraid of vampires, because in every movie I’d seen, the vampires always bit beautiful women…so I reasoned I was safe. “House of Dark Shadows” changed all that! I thought the movie was interesting and easy to follow, even though I hadn’t seen much of the soap opera. Jonathan Frid was terrifying, yet could still evoke some sympathy. The atmosphere was suitably gloomy and foreboding, and the music added to the sense of impending doom. But…girl vampires! And they bit guys!!! I wasn’t safe anymore. After I saw the movie, I ran all the way home from the movie theater…and, for the next two weeks, I slept with my Mom’s silver nail file under pillow. “House of Dark Shadows” is definitely a flick of its time, but there are still plenty of good old fashioned scares to be had. Unless all you’re trying to do is pick and find fault…

As a gay man…as a human being…I was mesmerized by this documentary. It’s funny…factual…informative…heartbreaking…and ultimately, hopeful. Highest recommendation!!!

This movie is well written, beautifully acted, and full of heart, love, and laughter. I was involved in it from beginning to end!
