"The Great Peace" reminds us of the Cherokee, Iroquois, and so many other Native tribes, both men and women in the American continent who practiced and continue to practice peace, enacted treaties, and largely influenced the writing of the US Constitution and the coming together of the colonies into one nation. Individual internal peace and external peace among people are inextricably entwined as they have witnessed and shown us. Out of respect for the dignity of Native people, it's important to acknowledge and honor their ancestral knowledge and contributions to our peace movements that serve as reminders of the path forward to a more equitable, peaceful, and lush green world.
