The German Lesson https://g.co/kgs/wkCE22L
You must watch this movie... Brilliant... saw it on the plane from Munich to Bengaluru... it's a German production in German with no subtitles available...
It's about the trauma of memories of a young boy after the war placed in a correctional facility.. physical, emotional and psychological... Ziggy is the boy having suffered the impossible (but totally typical) existence of a life of incomprehensible circumstance during the war. It centres around his family. His father, a strict loyal German police officer, and his notable artist uncle outlawed as a "degenerate" artist. (banned during the Nazi period).. Ones understanding of the world had collapsed.. allegiances of loyalty and faith to family versus state are placed in a twilight zone whereby what one has taken as sacrosanct, explodes and crumbles never to be regained. It really is the story of the ordinary German..
The conclusion has no solution.. instead for those of you able to "cross the line".. an understanding... that the things we may hold as true.. are simply an illusion.. a world view that exists until the spell is broken... or indeed not.. but one rather devoid of the forces that may seem unwittingly obvious..
