This book is not for everyone. If you're simply looking to be effortlessly entertained by a formulaic, plot-driven, Dark Academia story, then you should probably find something else to read. On the other hand, if you're seeking a complex, character-driven novel that challenges you to actively work for its rewards and to think, question, and contemplate big philosophical, metaphysical, and ethical concepts, then you are definitely the target audience. This is a book to be savored, a book that might have you reaching for your tape flags and sticky notes so you can keep track of questions that arise and connections you make. I would describe it as Dark Academia for Graduate Students. Again, not for everyone, but a delight for those who fit the target audience.
