Half of this book consists of descriptions of everyday actions such as walking or drinking, but if they were written by a horny middle school boy trying to learn descriptive language. Everyday things are made oddly sexual, and all the Unettes are very shallow, personality lacking characters compared to the Units. We read this in a 9th grade English class, and the reaction during the "juice scene" was terrible. I don't know how you could teach anything about this absolute peice of trash. It is as if it is trying to seem deep, and some of the 5 star reviews are clearly people trying to seem intellectual by pretending to understand the "hidden meaning". In reality is is a badly disguised peice of propaganda written by boomers to insult teenage slang and make an overexaggerated conclusion about technology. I know that is the point of a dystopia but this is not even writing. When I first read some parts to my dad, he was convinced it was one of those texts generated by an AI because it made no sense and the language was so badly used. ๐ฉ๐ฉ
