The movie is an undigested, regurgitated version of its first part.
Since it starred Idris Elba, I had expected it to be a good upgrade over Will Smith's Deadshot. I'm torn between deciding what made it bad: John Cena's subpar acting or how fragmentary the storyline was.
It was too flowery, dreamy and inconsistent throughout that leaves you with a lot of questions. The only character that stayed consistent was Viola Davis's. The movie's drenched with sort of a Deadpool cinematography and immoderately underscores on mid-air, slo-mo shots meant to depict surrealism. *Spoilers ahead*
Many important characters in the first movie take an early exit in this one. King Shark is a poor substitute for killer croc, and lacks any substance in humor. Harley's character was as puerile and unrealistic as ever. The way she killed the starfish made me barf. The futile attempts to join the pieces together is flagrant in this movie.
As far as the gore is concerned, it was abysmal! At one point in the movie, I saw clear liquid gushing out of a man's neck instead of blood. No work done there either.
In all, there were many different, incongruous parts in the movie that were hastily done and made to be strung in futile attempts.
