Just finished this very compelling book. The stories of the Salem witch trials are interesting, but the chronicled changes in religious concepts in early America really make the book a great read.
The narration follows the founding father’s religious evolution. As colonials began to question the unbending stronghold religion had on their lives, a new ideal of independence was born. For me, this was a new and worthy concept.
I would have loved to give the book 5 stars but Bill O’Reilly just could not help himself. In an astonishing lack of self awareness, he list examples of cancel culture comparing them to modern day witch hunts. O’Reiily made his fame and fortune inflaming the public nightly with exaggerated and sometimes totally fabricated outrages. If any one is a modern day witch hunter, it’s O’O’Reilly.
He and Dugard may have written a fascinating historical read, but O’Reilly is still a jerk.
