My criticism is not really based on the film techniques but rather the plot. I've seen the original Jurassic Park movies and they had amazing plots which gave them fear and emotion. Jurassic World had seemed epic with the creation of a new dinosaur, but recreating that in the same sequel seemed really bland. I dont mind the near death escapes which leave you hanging off your seat, but I didnt feel much for this film. We dont know much about any characters in the movie, except for Owen and Claire since we're not introduced to them well enough. They have no background story and they're suddenly just shoved into the plot.
There isnt much emotion, even in the way Lockwood dies. The film had no blood like the original Jurassic Park did. Anyway, watching this film, I agreed with Ian Malcolm on letting the dinosaurs becoming extinct, which would allow natural order to be restored. Like talking from a scientific perspective, the world has long evolved from dinosaurs where there is a new species at the top of the food chain i.e. humans and the world has adjusted to this. Anyway, the film includes the plagiarised plot of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, where dinosaurs are being captured and sold for money. The plot doesnt even make sense at all here. Plus halfway through the movie, the directors decide to stage it in just one mansion. We dont see much action other than the intelligent dinosaur going on a rampage.
The worst bit is how people dont realise how dangerous dinosaurs really are. Like I understand why people would feel sympathetic to these creatures, and an island sanctuary at first seemed good, but to know that these animals are a threat to human safety and yet keep them just for your kids to see has to be the most ridiculous thing. I felt that Blue was more of a hero than just an animal doing her thing to survive. The idea of money for dinosaurs has to be a really illogical decision to make. But what I really hate about the plot is how the the little girl Macy decides to free the dinosaurs. I mean its a shoddy attempt to produce another sequel. What happens now that the dinosaurs are free. Will the T-Rex now go on rampages across the United States and kill more humans. What about the sea dinosaur, its proving much more deadly than sharks do in beaches of Australia.
Directors should really know how to make a plot thats entertaining and logical. Letting the little girl push the big red button that lets them all free, risking many human lives. I wonder how the sequel will be. Will the government now try to kill all the dinosaurs one little girl decided to set free just because they are living and they are like her? Honestly, this series has nowhere much to go. The original movies were spectacular, Jurassic World was not too bad but this one tried to imitate the original films, and have an illogical plot. Movies need logical plots in order to also make sense. I feel like that by making illogical plots, the directors have more chance to produce sequels and keep the series running. Whether we like it or not this series is probably on its way to extinction.
