I enjoy complex crime dramas. Sherlock Holmes is my favorite (super) hero. The stories highlight the human failings, idiosyncrasies, prejudices, and more in the 1950s England. It also highlights the impacts forced upon individuals by the local community and society, also in 1950's England. The Vicar and the Policeman work through these issues, in addition to their own, to siphon out the evidence needed to identify and apprehend the guilty. They use much less technology than today. But, a large component of their success depends upon knowing, or recognizing personal details of the individuals involved, which include one's religious beliefs, or lack thereof.
As it turns out, many of these same personal issues and societal impacts exist today. Today's tech might help investigators find evidence quicker. Yet, to me, this show highlights the ever present need for us all to invest in individual and community development. We continue to have difficulty trying to live together.
