Not my favorite Guest mockumentary, but one of the top two or three. AMW excels in my book with its catchy musical scores and performances. I am all the more impressed with the abilities of people like Catherine O'Hara, Parker Posey, and Eugene Levy as well as the entire cast who prove that they can act, improv, and now...sing (and sing well at that). The story drags a little in parts, but there are also many funny moments that equal or exceed some of the hilarity from many of the previous Guest movies. One of my favorite moments is when Bob Balaban gets whacked on the head by Michael Hitchcock for asking too many stupid questions. Even though there have been many, many stupid questions and situations prior to AMW, I just found it extra hilarious that it took this long before one of the characters snapped and resorted to physical assault. Speaking of violence, another great line is delivered by John Michael Higgins character when he speaks of violence in his childhood that was mostly "musical" in nature. I don't want to spoil all the good lines and situations for you, but rest assured, if you've liked any of the previous Christopher Guest cinematic offerings, you will not be disappointed with this one.
