Read about Oppenheimer on Wiki before watching this movie. Oh, and flash cards would be helpful.
I went into this movie knowing NOTHING about Oppenheimer or the events of this story. The entire movie I felt like I missed the first 15 minutes where they explain everything and the characters. But I didn't.
They show a meeting in a small room and then jump to a courtroom. No idea what either was about until the end of the movie. Again, I knew nothing about these events so I was completely lost. I kept thinking "Who's this guy?" and towards the end "Which one was Strauss and what was he trying to get out of this hearing?"
On top of that it jumps from timeline to timeline, it was hard to keep the characters straight and most of the dialogue was drowned out by music or mumbled. The end where he is talking to Einstein and he says something very important....Yeah, I still don't know what he said. Most of the characters have accents which made it even harder to understand. I should've watched with closed captions but I'm not sitting thru that movie again. Towards the end I caught my eyelids becoming very heavy.
After the movie I looked on Wiki and read all the information that was missing from the movie that I was ASSUMED to already know. The whole thing makes much more sense but c'mon......3 hours is too long.
