Well just like with everything. Disney wants to diminish the original story line and characters. Not saying the movie was horrible. The roll by the original writers of Ariel was written for an Irish long red haired girl. Can’t wait to see their new MLK movie played by an Asian female. Or splash being played by a dog named bingo. That is the point. Nothing to do with people not wanting to see a dark skinned mermaid. Unlike with a lot of the racist comments coming from people on this page. Racism is racism. Period. It don’t matter who is saying it or to who they are referring to. All of it is disgusting.
The prob is Disney is out of ideas or any original content of their own. They piggy back off great classics that should be left alone. Adding to them is one thing. But erasing its history to fit a twisted ideology is absolutely disgusting!
This has nothing to do with racism! Rather the fact that writers indeed do write rolls for a certain look. I wouldn’t have liked a blond white women or an Asian women playing this roll either. I appreciate authenticity! They could have very well wrote an entire roll for this actress, with no hype from the public in doing so. Or added to the original.
Either way supporting of such is saying being Irish or being white isn’t ok. Or being straight for that matter. I won’t support a place who doesn’t have an original thought of their own. I haven’t watched any remakes Disney has done for that very reason.
