I've spent well over a hundred hours on NITE Team 4. The tutorials are extensive and as with other Steam games, you can use Shift Tab to access hints and others' experiences; there are also YouTube videos. From Solar Winds to the recent Microsoft Exchange intrusions, once you've finished the tutorials you'll have an inside track on how such things can happen and how essential it is that you always keep your software versions and virus protections up to date. After the tutorials you enter a series of story-based chapters, guided in part by a mentor. Not everything is spelled out; I keep notes all the time. As you develop the skills, there are more advanced scenarios available. Watching the YouTube videos made me aware of the RSA Conferences that happen each year, presentations by network protection professionals aimed at other network protection professionals. Software exploits learned in NITE Team 4 show up in these real-world discussions. Expect many late nights, even early mornings as you curse yourself knowing you have to get up for work shortly, but you just couldn't stop yourself until you solved a roadblock. I don't know how much of NITE Team 4 would translate into the real world, but much of what happens these days - including the recent ransomware attacks - sounds very familiar.
