It's upsetting to think this will be anyone's introduction to Anne Rice's superb writing. They destroyed any semblance of her characters. The writing is absolutely terrible and filled with random annoying potholes that they steamroll past. The pandering to black and gay people is insane. I don't know how anyone could enjoy it. Worse than the Twilight fanfiction. It should have been called something else if they wanted to ruin her work like this by ignoring every interesting aspect she brought to life about immortals. Instead you're hit over the head with the most mundane human issues ever, silly jealous romances, civil rights issues and endless other aspects you just don't want to see from VAMPIRES. Most of it just seems like a gay fantasy, which is fine, just don't call it her work. Because it's not. It's so...so subpar I'm angry just thinking about the changes they made. So much nonsense.
