If you love walking slow in heavy boots and fighting the same enemy over and over forever, even then Dead Space is a waste of time. Supposed to be scary but feels like you're in a haunted house fund raiser run by middle school boy scouts. "I am approaching a hole in the wall I wonder if something will pop out and scream at me. Yes. Yes it will." And let's talk about the voice acting. A small group finds a space ship filled with of zombies. The commander is emotionless. He might as well be solving a jigsaw puzzle for all the peril his voice conveys. He expresses concern about the ship crashing into a planet and killing them all with the same intonation he'd use to explain that his shoe was untied. This game feels like a job. A bad job.

This wasn't a perfect movie, but it was inventive. I agree with comments that it felt like a stage play, especially with people walking toward the camera, which was weird. Felt like those scenes in old 3D movies to exploit the "coming right at you!" gimmick. Some scenes had obvious green screening, which was distracting, and the CGI animals very too uncanny and broke immersion. But coming in with no expectations, I was intrigued by the premise and thoroughly entertained. Sad in the end but the movie didn't wallow in sadness for the whole length. Well done. Appreciated that there were no appearances by any of the Avengers or Star Wars characters. I forgot you could make a film that didn't have Disney-owned IP with a themed plastic popcorn contained tie-in.

A delightful first season is ruined by awful writing in the second season. Here’s all the insight you need: Nate represents the writers of the show, who enjoyed the folksy encouragement of Season 1 but couldn’t get past the bad reviews claiming “not enough conflict” so they set the entire show on fire because they felt like they didn’t get the respect they deserved. Once you realize this, that Nate is the personification of the writers of the show, you hate it. There is no redeeming a show whose writers basically told their viewers “you don’t matter” and told them to go eff themselves. I know that message was for us, writers, you’re not as clever as you think you are with your nonsense Coach Beard episode. You miss the attention you got in Season 1 and all you know how to do is act out.
