I honestly really wanted to like this movie, but I hate to say it was disappointing. At first I thought maybe I wouldn't like it since stiles wasn't gonna be in it, but that ended up being the least of my concerns. My favourite parts of the movie were probably Eli's addition to the cast and the reasoning behind stiles and lydia's breakup (at least we know that they still love each other and there's room for Dylan O'Brien to come back if he wants to). The first problem with the movie was the lack of chemistry between the characters, which was always my favourite part of the show. Despite having Liam and mason on the screen together in same scene, there were no real moments between them. The same goes for Scott and Liam and many other characters. The other big problem was the lack of character development in the movie, in fact, I feel like a lot of the character development from the show was destroyed. Peter seemed like his character from the beginning of the show, Malia seemed like her character went back to when she first appeared in the show (cold and distant), and the development between Peter and Malia seemed to have never existed in the movie. The same goes for several other characters. I also don't think that they should have brought back Allison (don't get me wrong, I like Crystal Reed) but I liked how her character left the show and her coming back 15 years later just didn't make sense to me. I also can't even begin to imagine why they thought killing off such a loved character was a good idea. The movie was good in terms of bringing back the nostalgia, but it didn't live up to it's potential. The ending of the original show was really well-written and if they wanted to do a reboot, I feel like it should've come back as a show. The heart and connection between the characters simply could not be captured in a short movie. I personally was not satisfied with the ending of the movie and think that the fans deserve a short series reboot for closure after this movie - preferably with Dylan O'Brien reprising his role as Stiles.
