(SPOILER FREE but Minor spoilers for The Boys) This is the first Marvel movie that has made me this excited in a while. It has its issues but all around is a big tribute to Chadwick, and so well made. I had my worries considering the writers had to handle Chadwick's death so carefully but I think it was great. The movie's soundtrack was epic, and the smart use of silent moments was perfect. Visually it was STUNNING, some CGI was a bit bleh, especially when they are in the ships but the movie more than makes up for it in other scenes. The CGI was also way better compared to the more recent Marvel movies. Since endgame, there's been a huge drop in the quality of Marvel movies but this one stands really tall above them. You can tell the amount of love that went into it. The themes and overall plot were so captivating too, it really fits Shuri, and all called back to the first Black Panther movie in some ways. The action and humor were perfect and made it such a joy. It knew when to take itself seriously and when to allow some moments for a good laugh. What a piece of true art, genuinely such a good movie, and gives me some hope for a rise in the quality of marvel movies in the future to come. Oh and it was nice to not see some forced feminist moment, they just let the scenes speak for themselves. The gals just got to be badasses without the movie trying to state it, it just lets you sit back and see it. Which is nice! A good rule is show don't tell and it seems Marvel finally picked up on that. Lastly, I just want to say all the characters are amazing and compelling just like the first BP was, kudos to the writers because the character work is lovely. Marvel needs to make more movies like this, it was fantastic. Same as people writing sequels! The subtlety of the callbacks was great and made me smile. They around amazing movies, if I rly had to nitpick some of the little dialogue could have been better, and the same with the CGI, oh, and without spoiling anything I wanted a round 2 fight to be a little more drawn out and more focused. Other than that it's fantastic and none of these issues ruined the experience at all.
Also, I'd like to say I don't get why people are so upset it talks about "politics" it doesn't really it just calls out racism from history, and Wakanda is a country it's pretty justified to bring some of the themes that they do to light. It's not out of place here :/ also, art reflects reality. Similar to why The Boys brings in the themes it does because they have the space to talk about it, the whole show is kind of a reflection on how America views celebrities but to an extreme ofc. That's why The Boys mentions BLM because it's totally justified and is the perfect setting to do so. THEY MOCKED A KARDASHIAN AD- idk BP was a great movie and I think talking about the history that they do in the movie is perfectly fine (along with the messaging about the political stuff they were talking about) There's no forced messaging in the movie tbh, I feel like they had the right setting to talk about what they did. Also, the plot is a little rehashed from the first but it's not too bad and was altered to fit Shuri's character better.
