Cleopatra was not a black woman! Why do some people try to co-opt histories that are not theirs? This series, thanks in part to Jada Pinkett Smith, perpetuates misinformation and that is a real problem. Just because Egypt is in the large continent of Africa doesn’t mean that people from Egypt were the same as those from Congo or Nigeria. We are doing a disservice to younger people who take series like this and Queen Charlotte as the truth. Now, before I watch a documentary on Netflix, I am very skeptical of the veracity of whatever they are presenting.

Perhaps it’s not quite as bad as many of the critics say it is. However, when it's bad it's bad. Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo are both appallingly awful in their roles. Most characters cannot sing so many songs are talk sung. Awful. Ian McKellan and Francesca Hayward are both good. The rest of the cast, including James Corden and Jennifer Hudson are just ok. Actually I take back what I said about James Corden. He was terribly miscast and added nothing to the movie. The CGI is not as weird looking as it seemed in the trailers, except the mice. Some of the songs were so chopped up or watered down that they were almost unrecognizable. I liked the scenes with Mr Mistopheles, but he wasn't the exciting, flashy character he is in the stage play so that sucked. As a fan of the stage musical, I was underwhelmed and disappointed.
