A well acted Polish film, full of incredible coincidences, which nevertheless has a warm heart behind it. It seems to give a genuine depiction of rural Polish life, where Jewish folk mix with their neighbours.

The acting is very good throughout, but the director loves some long , boring scenes. The Story gradually becomes clear, but some aspects are bewildering. The English rancher, Trafford, such a key part, disappears from the story in an aside.

Absolute baloney. Considering the writing team this is a shocker. The stars struggle with an unbelievable plot. The two main protagonists are just not credible.

The final confrontation between Jenna and her nemesis was brilliantly dramatic and tense. However, the ending was underwhelming. Sheridan Smith gave a towering performance with good support. The direction with close up shots of the detective, for example, was over the top. Yes, it was a story, but come on! You are not going to give up on regaining your reputation to save a devious fifteen year old?!

In the end a gripping drama. It is always important to bear in mind that historical figures are human beings with all their flaws and attitudes. The two leads show this with the German's intense idealism and the Brit's innocence. George Mackay is a DIY spy and it shows as he enters the lion's den with mouth open, nostrils flaring and eyes as big as saucers! The early scenes are rather darkly lit and the numerous political flunkies are bewildering, even for me. However, the pace picks up and tension is maintained. The main, villain, apart from Hitler, is the bodyguard, but his role could have been better developed. Did some of his scenes lie on the cutting room floor?

Poor storyline. Great actors left with stodgy plot. 2 hours of going nowhere. Director Maggie chooses the wrong book to adapt.

Despite the accomplished acting by all the stars the storyline borders on the absurd. I will give no spoilers away, but the ending for me defied belief! There's a really good tale in there to tell and the tension is well portrayed.

Rather heavy handed at times, but an excellent performance by Carey Mulligan carries the film. There are plenty of twists to prevent you guessing the outcome. All emotions are felt by the audience in this surprisingly good Sky Original.

This was a stinker. An unbelievable plot and a laughable script. The acting was fine, but couldn't mask the implausabilities!
