In the end a gripping drama. It is always important to bear in mind that historical figures are human beings with all their flaws and attitudes. The two leads show this with the German's intense idealism and the Brit's innocence. George Mackay is a DIY spy and it shows as he enters the lion's den with mouth open, nostrils flaring and eyes as big as saucers!
The early scenes are rather darkly lit and the numerous political flunkies are
bewildering, even for me.
However, the pace picks up and tension is maintained.
The main, villain, apart from Hitler, is the bodyguard, but his role could have been better developed. Did some of his scenes lie on the cutting room floor?
