This was one of the best short films I've ever watched.
Slavko Vorkapich & Robert Florey made this short film on a shoestring budget, yet it overachieves and holds up even to this day.
The short film also touches upon themes such as existentialism portrayed in a surreal manner.
Filmmaking is symbolized by scenes of previews, spotlights crisscrossing the night sky, and moving cameras, reels, and dangling celluloid strips.
Interestingly, “A Hollywood Extra” was later remade as a feature, “Hollywood Boulevard” (1936), directed by Robert Florey.
