Silent Hill 2 is the darkest most melancholy Jacob's Ladder like nightmare I've ever played. The game is beautifully horrific when it comes to graphics. I love the streamlined controls but does take away from the tension at some points, however the game makes up for it by adding content and enemies in new nook and crannies just to surprise the veterans of the original.
I love how the development team are able to do callbacks to the original game (I won't spoil for you) but there has been some quality of life changes to the game and it's very much appreciated.
The story will leave you with an uneasy feeling as the town acts like an amplification of our "protagonist's" insanity, guilt, and delusions.
Try playing this game while depressed, and it will leave you wanting to go outside for sunlight and grass touching lol
