I am glad they followed the boys. I have a decent idea about what the girls are doing. But it is these not-yet men who I was interested in seeing. The slight disruption of the Brown boy vs. the so-called West Point white kid who thought he had in the bag and gave his privilege best which turned out to be mediocre. This documentary has a lot to unpack and showcases the thinking of youth political sub-culture. It also makes clear just how the images of our publicly paid politicians are, and how early they begin to dial in their facade. In the end, they present an image they believe they will win; not what they believe or even what they will do. It is chilling how many of the young men in the documentary have taken cues from our Ex-President- from veiled racism all the way to taking a stance in which you disagree with but lie anyway. As a sociologist, I wish there were interviews with the parents, teachers, and handlers at the camp. The kids stand alone though and the doc is well worth the watch.
