Let's just start off by saying this was one of the best reading experiences, one of the best books I have read until now. Epic doesn't even begin to cover it. I did not think, as someone who had looked at the book previously as being HUGE, that I would be saying "this needs like 200 more pages" when I was nearing the end. I did not want it to be over.
This book offered a wide array of characters. From secrel mages to badass people.
The best part? The majority of the characters were female. I loved that they were female and they were multifaceted, courageous, sensitive, foolish, and
strong. They weren't cut out from the same cloth and they had a variety of backgrounds..
The Writing
The chills. The goosebumps. The tears. The 4k cinematic movie that played in my head throughout the entire book. The author gets to the point while using poetic language that jabs directly in the heart. I'd often just stare at a line that had just pierced me, wondering where the heck it had come from.
"Sometimes life does not go the way we want it to and we can't really change that. But it doesn't matter as long as we have someone to love us. Love is more important than anything else in this world" - A girl like that...
*This book talks about a girl Zarin, who lived a life of shame because of her mother, as her mother was a bar dancer, married to some Big shot (Don) and people never took that profession greatly. She lived with her Masa and Masi was very possessive about Zarin as the was approaching her leenage as well as because of her mother.
Porus, a decent charming boy, lived with his mother as Zarin´s neighbour. He liked Zarin since the childhood but his mother left that place along with him and started living in Mumbai, where he worked as Deli Boy. Destiny made Zarin and Porns met after a long time & still he was head over heels in love with her. But his mother disliked her because of her family background her thoughts were like Zarin wasn't like other decent girls out there.
Before Porus. Zarin was involved with many boys but she was never serious with any of them until Farhan, but Porus often told her to be cautious about Farhan but she never took it seriously and always sidelined Porus. But the tragedy that Farhan caused with Zarin, Porus became her go-to person and she started feeling the real love.
Zarin had a pitiful childhood. Porus always stayed by her side even mysteriously sometimes because her teenage years were the worst. If one thing good happened with her, hundred of bad things were waiting for her. But she tolerated everything, every taunt, every broken friendship, every death of her loved ones & many heartbreaks & hardships
This book was subduing cuz of the gloomy events it consisted. The things Zarin faced will break ones heart at the end. I really felt bad for her (Zarin) cuz she was more than just " A girl like that.. . "
