I had medium expectations for this movie, as I love Blake Lively and think she’s an amazing actor. They were not matched.
First of all, if you have read the book (f colleen hoover by the way) you will understand me when I say that this movie TRULY romanticised the violence. Yes, she left Ryle. That has nothing to do with the fact that they made the kitchen incident look like w completely normal reaction. In the BOOK, he (idiotically) took a casserole out of the oven with his bare hands, dropped it, and rushed to the sink. When Lily stopped laughing she immediately tried helping him, and he BACKHANDED her, hard, pushing her onto the floor and broken glass. The movie made it look like a happy accident.
And then the publicity for the movie. What even. Blake Lively making the very possible situation of someone coming to them with a ryle situation into a joke, promoting her hair care line, (Split Ends With Us, by the way) and creating a NAIL POLISH line for the movie. The terrible outfits throughout the entire movie did not help either, don’t even try to make fashion statements because its failing miserably. It looks like lily picked all of her outfits by doing the stop….go challenge in a thrift store.
“Grab your florals and go to the theatre!!” is the same as “put on your striped pyjamas, we’re going to watch the boy in the striped pyjamas!!”
Do you get it now?
I have never seen an actress so out of touch with her role at MULTIPLE different points in the movie, even outside of filming as well.
Also, just because Justin Baldoni is stupid hot, DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD BE TEAM RYLE. HE IS A MENTALLY UNSTABLE ABUSER?
