I think a lot of people have high expectations for this given Reba and Melissa are back together again but sadly I think that’s why this doesn’t work. The Reba show was lighting in a bottle. The humor, the cast, the acting was natural, the storyline. People are expecting that with this show and sadly it fell short. After watching Happys Place it’s so hard not to compare the two. This one is very scripted with forced humor. Nothing grabs you and connects you to the cast making you want more. I think we were all hoping some Barbra Jean humor would shine through but the jokes just don’t hit. They would’ve been smart to do a Reba reboot instead. There’s a high demand and want for it. I don’t see this getting another season.

Ooof. Where do I even start. I know people are saying you can’t compare the two because this film is based off the musical but when you watch this new version, I found myself doing nothing but comparing to the original 2004 film. When you change and alter something so iconic and known, it’s very noticeable and disappointing when the humor and jokes don’t land. There are a few funny moments, but I felt like I was watching the store brand of the original. Renne Rapp who plays Regina George wasn’t half bad to watch, but whoever cast Cady needs to be fired. They couldn’t have picked a more dry, boring person. No personality or connection whatsoever. The story line was very rushed and patchy, no time for character/audience connection. If you are a fan of the original save yourself the time, money and many cringe moments this film offers. Mean Girls is a classic that should have been left alone. Mean Girls 2024 is so not fetch.

I wanted to like this film! As I am a fan of the original like the rest of the world. Where as that film is a yearly classic Christmas tradition, the sequel fell short from the cozy nostalgic feeling we know to love. Where there are many flashbacks and nods to the original film, like some original actors, the famous house, jokes, it’s unfortunately not enough to save this film. Where the storyline is tender hearted, it just never lands. I found it hard to keep my interest from how slow moving it is. I know it’s the age of the reboots, but this one should have been left alone.

Where do I even start. This has the straight to television cheap sequel vibe to it. There are bits and pieces that are decent but compared to the original this is a terrible follow up. The idea of a sequel had so much potential given the original was made in the early 90s and became a cult classic but sadly it just didn’t land. This follow up was more geared toward children, like a G rated Disney Channel stamp on it. Where as the original is timeless with more adult humor undertones. Although I do appreciate the many Easter egg nods to the original. If you have a good eye you will see many of them. The three leading ladies looked great, but unfortunately the writing didn’t bring much of that magic back that we’ve grown to love. Acting was subpar. Again felt like a cheap Disney channel sequel. Also the special effects were more convincing in the original and that was 30 years ago. This would have been a hit if they geared it more towards the fans who grew up with the classic rather than todays children.
