I love the fact this author took the time to research and pay homage to the book’s source material, however, this novel plays out like a tween whodunit and really doesn’t do much with the fascinating, intense subject matter it’s based on The book is fast paced but barely does a job of helping us understand its many characters and their unique relationships. The source material is so rich and layered through its many films that this author does a disservice trying to pack this into a short novel that does nothing but follows one character through a calamitous set of traps. A miss for me :(
