If you've never watched it before, I suggest you check out Layer Cake and pay specific attention to the intro and the outro of that movie. Then watch this film, I Care A Lot. Apparently the screenwriter for this Rosamund Pike movie was a big fan of J.J. Connolly's work in Layer Cake because they borrowed HEAVILY from that story in the opening and closing scenes.
This might have been a better movie if there was a stronger sense of originality to it, but unfortunately it's just another example of lazy writing.
