This book has been the bible about any German warplanes since 1970. It was succeeded 2 years later by the book 'German aircraft of the second world war' by J.R Smith & Antony Kay, published by Putnam and of a very similar quality. Recently, the Caraktere publishers have issued in French a book written by Chris Goss which only concerns German fighters but in a much less detail form. For many years, William Green has been 'the' expert of German aircraft, writing many books and many articles in the now disappeared magazine 'Royal Air Force Flying review'.
