Outer Banks Paradise on Earth If there’s one show that got me through quarantine, through all the hard times, a show which I will keep coming back to, a show with nostalgia and vibes that are unmatched, with the best cast they could’ve ever chosen, it’s this. I just finished season 4. I honestly didn’t want to, because of the..spoiler. But it’s OBX. It’s my childhood. How could I not? I’m literally sobbing as I write this, because I cannot describe in words how good this show is. It perfectly encompasses how it feels like to be a teenager, free, without cellphones and stuff, just having a good time. Not to mention the acting. I mean, Madeline & Chase are literally exes, and their chemistry on screen is beautiful. OBX is truly what it claims to be. Its adventure, and drama, and comedy, but most of all it’s just a group of kids fighting for eachother. It’s friendship, and love, and provokes some deep desire in me to be as carefree as them. It’s a genuine masterpiece, and that’s all I have to say. I love this show. I love the characters. I love the people who made it, because you deserve the praise. P4L 🫶🏻

Summary (spoilers): Amy, a 14 year old girl, is home alone when They (aliens) invade Earth. She must presume her parents dead and learn how to survive on her own as these mindless flesh-eating monsters take over world. In pre-apocalyptic flashbacks we learn of her past life, in the Before, and her emotional response to Them - and her discovery of Baby, a toddler found in a rundown market, that Amy raises as her ‘sister’ Three years pass, and on a outing to a market for food, Amy & Baby encounter another survivor (amber) - who was sent as bait - and take her in. The disappearance of Amber leads to the loss of Amy’s house, a safe building with protection. Finally, she is found by an organization (New Hope) of survivors post-app, whose leader is - her mom. Her & Baby navigate living in a real, safe home, being able to talk freely and roam in the open, not starved, all while uncovering secrets within New Hope. Review: Amazing read. Flew through the book, could not put it down. Got me out of my reading slump and introduced a sci-fi/alien genre I currently adore. Written beautifully , I related a lot to Amy and loved descriptions of her emotions, and how Baby ‘saved’ her. The plot twists were shocking but subtle enough, and the general theme of the novel was clear. I loved the flashbacks, the minor romance… Minor Flaws: The writing felt very - unsure, to me. The only way I can think to describe it is that the book is written like a fan fiction. There are various unresolved plot points, but there is a sequel, so I hope I find closure. All in all, great read, 5 stars, can’t wait to read the sequel.

I really like this show. And I don’t say that a lot. It has a very engaging plot line, and there are certainly many unexpected plot twists. Yes I agree, the acting could be better as well as the script/screenplay/producing, and there are various plot holes, but it is still a good show never the less. The idea of the show is based on the disappearance of MH370, with fictional elements - but I really wished it had (ended) with a more scientific explanation. I say this because, especially in the fourth season, the disappearance of 828 is tied with some “divine” nonsense. I’m not being religious, or against any of that, but can’t we have one good plot-line/show without bringing in godly elements? For example, there are many biblical references, and they talk about finding a piece of Noah’s Arc. and tbh, I had no idea what Noah’s Arc was until I did some research. I’m just saying, they could’ve come up with a better explanation for 828 without religion. Which brings me to my conclusion - and why I rate this still a 4 star - Manifest is a good show. It has barely any explicit content (including cursing), has a good story line, but has heavy references to divine beings. I got through them without knowing anything biblical, but I really wish they didn’t bring it up. It’s like they’re almost trying to prove religious myths with messed-up science, like they’re enforcing religions on the watchers. I don’t like that aspect. Once again, I’m not saying this review to go against or support any religion. I’m simply stating my own opinions on the show and why they shouldn’t have added biblical/spiritual aspects.
