It’s a run down town with an unruly police force. The protagonist old lady Mildred trying to avenge the system which could not bring to justice all those perpetrators of rape and murder of her daughter , she burns the police station apparently for no specific reason. Her sociopath like traits lose sympathy for her by the viewers along with the denizens of the bizarre town . The capturing part of the film are the family scenes of police chief. He is an officer with a golden heart , a loving husband and father of two small girls unfortunately trapped in a progressing cancer and failure to detect serious crime like murder and rape of daughter of Mildred .Another riveting scene is that of Dixon the racist cop in police station keeping his legs on table and ears plugged with phones when confronted by the new , seasoned black police officer asking for his firearm and badge to punish him for his misdemeanor. The situation is aggravated by setting of billboards highlighting failure of police force ultimately leading to suicide by the police chief. The lead actors McDormand, Harrelson, and Rockwell are at their best Among those in the supporting cast , Peter Dinklage and Clarke Peters steal your attention. The free use of four letter word in conversation by young and old in the movie add a certain raunchiness to the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri casts a light on individuals , society, crime and its organic relationship with social organizations , the constabulary to be precise. The end is abrupt and prevents one from grasping the full satisfaction of a film otherwise beautifully crafted .
