I don't know why no one talks about this, but the supposedly redeemable pirate love interest is not, in fact, redeemable. He makes rape jokes against the main character to make her scared of him, MULTIPLE TIMES.
"'Or I could take advantage of you being in my bed right now.'" page 175
"He considered all the ways she could retaliate and prepared himself for any of them, but she merely lay there, with a look of shock and fear in her eyes. He pressed his hips harder against hers and licked his lip. It was a show, and yet there was a small part of him that wanted to do exactly what he was threatening." Page 175
These are just from one page, and there are many more I could reference. Like, excuse me? This kind of thing is not at all just a fun little scene, it is disgusting. The fact the main character didn't even try to do anything also shows how this book views woman.
On a different note, every character is extremely naive and makes the most stupid decisions. The conversation are things you could find in any other book. The plot is okay, but it doesn't pull me in. The characters are very flat and I don't care for it all that much.
