They’re really trying, but they’re missing all the magic of HIMYM. That cast had chemistry, they had personalities. The writers had long standing jokes that they told over the course of several episodes. The let enough of the story out to keep you guessing, and to make you curious. Their backstories were somewhat realistic.
With HIMYF, I don’t actually care about any of the characters. Every character is a little too much a little too intense. Hilary Duff’s character is really inconsistent in her actions. It’s like the writers are still trying to figure her out. Jesse’s the only character who makes you care about him.
I want to like this show so much, and I like the idea. I’m glad they’ve updated it and are being realistic about the challenges of being a millennial. But get better writers for the next season.
