The only more-or-less amusing aspect was the tablet playing music based on the situation or context. Other than that, everything was predictable, boring and uninspiring. I have long stopped reading pure romance, including by Nora Roberts, though I still enjoy her "In Death" series. All her romance novels protagonists are made from the same stencil: a cool, brave and independent young woman overcoming all obstacles. I am guessing Sonya's lack of cooking skills was supposed to make her charming in a nobody-is-perfect way. Instead I found the scene with stew preparation utterly annoying and even unbelievable. She is afraid? She needs her hand held? Her mother dictates her a recipe? She calls her friend, who does not cook either, for emotional support and to ask if the beef looks right?
Very disappointing, but not surprising. There is no way I am going to continue the trilogy.
