Overall, I wanted it to be good and did watch it to the end....but it felt 20+ years old. Also, it felt like recycled bits from various past movies without anything new. Most of the action sequence felt slow, unrealistic, and looked choreographed. Not sure why but even the blue face paint on the blood Axe leaders bothered me as cliche and unimaginative.
I loved 300 including the slow motion action sequences. But for some reason the slow-mo in Rebel Moon felt like it was just done cuz it worked before or hiding actual good stunt work.
Even the haircut and face of Noble felt formulaic (the same evil Nazi look we've seen countless times before).
And what's up with the giant ship at the end going down from pulling one lever in the gunner pod. Just bad ship design?
Anyways, I'll watch Part 2 but just nothing in Part 1 got me emotionally invested in the characters or struggle. Maybe I was just not in the mood...but then again a good movie would put me in the mood?
