I am a late comer to CDramas. And only watched this series in 2025. 7 or years late. However, no problem. I love the over series. But I wish all CDramas can consolidate episodes and edit out redundant scenes, and shorten them to a concise max 40 episodes. In this series, Princess Agents— I am absolutely in love with the scholar, strategist cool Master Yuwen Yue. He played the head of the Eyes of Gods very well. I love the first few episodes, when he took in the slave girl and named her Xing’Er. And trained her so well to be a spy and great warrior. The martial arts choreography is fantastic, and the secret training complex is amazing with all the secrets arrows out from the mouths of the “tiger heads”.
I like that Chinese CDramas give importance to the female leads. Xing’Er/ChuQiao is a great female warrior. But a bit underdeveloped in her emotional female sexual display for the her main lover Yuwen Yue not until the end when he got wounded badly and dying and eventually fell into the icy lake to die. Well, reading fans’comments which majority demand a Season 2 to show that Yuwen Yue was eventually rescued and the lovers got together and have 2 children. Alas, I am still in Season 1. And if Season 2 is now appearing…with a totally different cast and 7-8 years later. I would rather just accept the fact that Master Yuwen Yue is dead in the icy lake. That’s an ok ending for me. He lived a full life, and was always philosophical with his existence. He died the tragic hero, mostly because his love was never reciprocated by Xing’Er. She is mostly with the antagonist hero warrior as a friend or in the battlefield. She chose to stay loyal to YanXun, who is hell bent to seek revenge against the Kingdom of which Yuwen Yu is an official and loyal to. Yuwen Yue is shown to always be openly or secretly protecting and rescuing ChuQiao when she is in a tight spot. He is always so spacious in his heart to let her go and roam! He loved her deeply and sacrificed a lot for her. And yet she always treated him as the enemy. Anyways, the intrigues and side plots are endless. The villains are many. And one has to be patient and the time to keep following the next episode, an addictive undertaking. But CDramas are great with high moral teachings. The ultimate heroes/ heroines are skilled in martial arts and the art of wars; they possess integrity, intelligence, restraint, and make their decisions based on ethical standards. Love and loyalty are respected. Love and devotion are very romantically expressed by the lovers. Kissing scenes are not in short supply! The settings, props of the imperial courts are always so beautifully set, and private manors with their gardens, and interiors are highly aesthetics. I recommend CDramas!
