The Whale
If this movie wouldn't have won the Oscar then i might have not watched this movie. But i watched it and it was just because of the actor Brendan Fraser.
Indeed, the movie won the Oscar in the same category only, Winning The Best Actor Award in the Leading Role.
I watched the movie before and after that i googled and knew that the movie is the adaptation of a play written by Samuel D. Hunter with the same title 'The Whale'.
And that's why I felt something peculiar while watching it. A few characters, a typical pattern of dialogues delivering and the appearance of the characters on the screen one by one as if they were standing behind the curtain for ready to play their part.
Movie was the exact and perfect adaptation of a play. You'll assume that you're not watching a movie but it's a play running on a screen.
I saw the only two character sees on the screen at a time. If the third character appeared then the second character got disappeared after a few minutes. So, the only two were left there for the conversation.
You'll notice that they does something abruptly on the screen to fetch the attention of audience which is the same act done while performing a play on a stage.
So, the POV is that the movie is worth watching and experiencing something new. And i really appreciate the direction of Darren Aronofsky.
