I had read this book for my summative in english class. I had never written a review before and I will never again. This book was so horrendus that I will never read or watch anything again related to autism awareness. The author is basically mashing every stereotype together for a young boy who does really stupid things that is "justified". The main character is egotistical and selfish blatantly looking down other people. He is always telling us "oh I'm a genius" while being so dense and unaware that he does not think of consequences. I get that it isn't technically his fault because he can't help it, but rather than his actions being justified because he has asd. The author is making him straight up stupid because of his condition. The book is supposed to be unique, but you learn more facts about science than you do about the plot. Like many other reviews state, this does not accurately portray autism and is just openly labelling conditions. It seems as if the author did everything they could to frustrate us then try to make us empathize with him using his autism as an excuse. I feel my intelligence deteriorating as I read the book because this "genius" uses 5th grade vocabulary.
