This book is a surreal experience. Living Sita’s life and each emotion she felt as we weave through Chitra Banerjee’s mesmerising way of storytelling. The book talks about so many unheard women in Ramayan that you’re constantly amazed by how much you don’t know. When I started reading, it was from a naive and ignorant perspective of feeling like what happened was unjust and wrong. But as I read further and understood the characters more i realised the flawed part of these gods, the part of them that made them human. And that made me understand why what they did happened and how it was important for it to happen the way it did. Truly one of the most eye opening books I have read.
