I’m a died in the wool American football fan. I hate watching soccer despite the fact that my teenage son is pretty good at the damned sport. Which is why I’m totally shocked that I am so much in love with Ted Lasso! I watched this to make my son happy but the joke was on me because I am now the show’s biggest fan.
The writing is brilliant. The characters are extremely shallow while at the same time drawing on depths of humanity seldom seen on TV.
I was a little disappointed during the first episode that the female owner was depicted in such a stereotypical fashion. I wanted her to be strong and triumphant after being dragged through the garbage by her ex. It felt like a throw away to me of what could have been a comeback story. But as the episodes progressed I saw glimpses of the storyline yet to come and I am hopeful she will rise above and become the character I wanted to root for.
If Ted Lasso was a real person I would want to be his best friend. He is Ned Flanders and Ned Ryerson all rolled into one and even if he’s not real he’s going to become my imaginary friend. Bravo to Jason for making me feel joy and hope during a horrible time in history. ❤️❤️❤️
