Pikmin 4, in my opinion, is an excellent game. It has a very playful nature, expressive music, unique designs, and fun gameplay. The games main story is very enjoyable, with challenges that I think both new and veteran players are sure to enjoy (I, as a longtime fan of Pikmin and a veteran player, really enjoyed it). Oatchi, the space dog, is an adorable and different touch to the franchise. To some, Oatchi seems like a cheat sheet for the game. His controls are very simple and easy to use, and the ability to level up his skills makes him incredibly overpowered at times. But, I see Oatchi as a bonus that can be used when necessary. He really is just there for extra help, and you don't really have to use him unless you really have too. He's also really good at helping new players that are new to the series and haven't played a Pikmin game before.
But, what i've been seeing here is that a lot of fans (mostly veteran players) are complaining about Pikmin 4's Co-op. Instead of playing as two captains (like from the 2nd and 3rd game), you can only play as one captain and the other is a screen that throws pebbles. I can see the issue of players not being able to really enjoy playing this game with friends and family, but, this game is more focused on solo gamers. (I am a solo gamer myself, but I do enjoy playing games with friends. I played Pikmin 3 with friends, and it was fun. But it really isn't a big deal that the co-op in 4 isn't as fun.) But, enough said, I quite enjoy the game, and is something i'll definitely replay. It may seem a little too easy for some (i'll admit, it was easier then the past games), But it's a beautifully designed game with enjoyable gameplay I think gamers of all ages will enjoy. I think it deserves 5 stars.
