Everything that Ghosh describes about the wars and riots, how they are perceived differently by the people regardless of the lives taken. That the pain of any such circumstance can only be felt by someone who was witness to it, whose life was changed entirely due to the loss of a loved one. That these incidents remain inscribed in the memory of the people who suffer the consequences while for the people far from the epicenter of the incident, it's merely history. On a very personal note, Tridib is never gonna leave my mind and I felt helpless with the story advancing.
