Screenplay unlike any Mani movies. There’s a reason why this wasn’t made into a movie. Maybe, could’ve been a TV series with multiple seasons. With or without reading the book, an average person should be able to follow along the movie. Not this one! Two stars for the effort and costumes. Scenes move so so fast that it could give a headache. Did this mess really need ARR and Mani? Any donkey could’ve pulled this off especially in the Tamil industry. Haven’t they watched Bahubali or Bajirao Mastani like movies? But again, a couple of paid reviews would praise the movie to program the masses. And there’ll be a crowd to unquestionably follow. Sad state. So many useless scenes didn’t even make sense how it made it to the screen. No character development whatsoever. I didn’t have any connection with characters. Who cares if Ponniyin Selvan is dead or alive? Who cares if PS-2 is made or not. This itself is such a badly presented movie that is it really worth another part? Such an embarrassment presenting rich Tamil history to global audience. Such a disappointment. Please save yourself a headache and torture for 3 hrs long. Instead of all the useless horse and war scenes, maybe focus on showing full songs without having conversations in the middle of Mani’s songs.
