Awdry wasn't kidding when he said that Thomas would become a "vulgarized and ruined train wreck" if America got their hands on it... Now he's probably rolling in his grave. When I first heard about this, I was like "Thomas is getting rebooted?" I was so confused about what they did. And now I see the full show, and I think it sucks. All Engines Go is very unfaithful to the original source material and completely misses the spirit of what made the original franchise. The original had a more realistic premise and setting (although with talking trains). But All Engines Go is more kiddie and cartoonish and is about little kid trains having fun whilst still working together (though not as much) in a very unrealistic setting. A lot of the characters have been butchered and flanderized badly to the point where they seem nothing like their older selves. Now, they're just little kids. Many characters from the original series are either pretty much nowhere to be found, or have been reduced to minor roles. The only major characters from the original series that are confirmed to appear are Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, Henry, Edward, Diesel, Cranky, Bulstrode, Annie and Clarabel, Harold, Hiro, Sir Topham Hatt, Emily, and Skiff. The show completely abandons the down to earth tone and logicof the original series and replaces it with cartoony physics and kiddie junk (The engines can jump off their tracks, more their wheels like limbs, flip to the other side of their track and jump onto others, etc). While later seasons of the original relied on some cartoon physics with the engines bouncing their chassis, this is far more zany to the point any realism is completely out of the window. If you want to know what's really sad to think about something when it comes to this reboot, then that is considering that this reboot happened to spawn the same year as the 75th year anniversary that Thomas debuted in 1946 as a character in the second book of the Railway Series, Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas (as a character) has already been turned into a huge disgrace by the general public as of late 2021. Overall, it's a real disgrace. Awdry must be rolling in his grave.
