Totally agree with the review that said "Slow Horses this ain't." I stayed with it despite its trope-y storyline: Disaffected woman becomes spy and gets herself married to Britain's Defence Secretary. Happens all the time. Ben Whishaw (Daniel Craig's Q) as a conflicted hitman is a nice subplot addition. A good twisty element are the two emo girls who are also assassins. (I might watch a series about them). Incidentally, her employer is a non-government agency that could be the Chinese government for all she knows or cares. Things that drag this down. 1. Whisaw is a supernatural shot - he can kill bad guys at 20 yards on the run with a pistol, but is somehow immune to automatic gunfire. To be fair, he does get shot once...the strolls away. 2. The hammer-to-the-head virtue signalling that pervades current British production. It's like watching a game of woke bingo, I mean with Every Character in every scene 3. The deft way Keira Knightley juggles raising 2 children, supporting her soon to be PM husband, and is still able to go out at night and kill bad guys, coming home covered in blood, and no one notices. Makes Mr. and Mrs. Smith's life look absolutely believable. I surrendered when she knocked out a Marine guard in the US Embassy, called her corporate employer and said hack the American's surveillance system to delete my presence, and walked out without anyone saying, aren't you the defense minister's wife? Good actors, tired idea, unimaginative plotting
