One of my top 10 movies of all time. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Words can’t really explain how powerful and well made this movie is. I first watched it as a young girl and it has remained imprinted in my mind ever since. Yes it contains many gruesome, violent and graphic scenes but it is emotional more than anything. Apocalypto takes you through a roller coaster of emotions such as anger, sadness, tears, joy, empathy, disgust. This is one of those movies you can watch many times and it still maintains its wow factor. There are certain scenes that will stick out to you and be forever iconic (like the running scene, so simple yet brilliant). I still get excited to watch Apocalypto even though I’ve seen it before. All the actors are phenomenal and play their roles so well. Rudy Youngblood’s acting is exceptional and has you rooting for Jaguar Paw from start to finish. And of course Mel Gibson, this movie wouldn’t be the masterpiece it is without his direction. The end was the most spine chilling thing for me though. The true enemy was aboard the ships: European invaders. A must see!
