I skipped over this show for a very long time on Netflix as I never really thought a blind superhero could be any good. I mean Daredevil, what the hell kind of name is that? But then again we’ve had worse. However, I can actually say this is quite an underestimated show.
Season 1 as usual in superhero shows was about the hero finding himself and what he is meant to be. It was an interesting season which I wholeheartedly binged through at times even though some moments I had to slip past as Elden Henson’s character Foggy was a really whiny person for most of it.
Season 2 was by far the best season. Why? One answer. The Punisher. One of my all time favourite marvel characters who is very much under-appreciated by the marvel cinematic universe especially as they have finally found the perfect man aka Jon Bernthal to play this role. Bernthals portrayal as The Punisher led to him getting his own spinoff which was delightful yet a shame that it only managed to run for 2 seasons. However the emergence of this character gave Daredevil a new perspective on his do not kill motto as The Punisher showed that sometimes the worst of the worst do not deserve a chance and should be put down for good.
Season 3, still watching but felt I should I give a review on what I’ve seen so far.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s performances as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin were true masterpieces in this show. The emotions they both portray in this show really emphasises their abilities as actors overall. It’s rare we see actors for so perfectly for a role sometimes as the marvel universe has seen with for example the Spider-Man casting issues being what with the role being re casted over and over again (Thank You Sony You Greedy Douchebags). Once again, shout out to Jon Bernthal for his role as Frank Castle/Punisher, a character I hope to see again very soon with the same actor playing the role of course.
